INDIA bloc faces a significant decline in Lok Sabha numbers, potentially falling below 200 seats due to recent and potential exit.
INDIA bloc, which came a close second to the BJP-led NDA in the general elections two years ago, is now facing the prospect of its collective stock tumbling below the 200-mark in the Lok Sabha, further nullifying any remote House challenge to the ruling establishment.
The changing number games in both the Houses smoothen the government's legislative path and could embolden it to push with many ambitious bills. Therefore, many feel it is just a matter of time until the government returns with the amendment bill on women's reservation and delimitation that the INDIA bloc had voted out in the last session. The Opposition bloc's inability to get its act together also provides the Centre a tactical cushion in dealing with economic issues.
